Welcome to Cowless, soon to be at the highest point in San Diego. What a gorgeous California Day it was. We were coming back from Julian, Apple Pie Country, and after a few slices of the good stuff, a good hike was needed to burn it off. Less than a month removed from my final weigh in on Fit To Fat To Fit, these legs were ready for a task - we stumbled into this one...
The first half-mile had a slight incline, but no big deal. Easy going so far, nice open trail, lots of people for comfort. No problem!
Let the Climb Begin!
SNAKE!
Another, SNAKE!
These rattlers were persistent by crossing the trail. Trek carefully, we did, continue to the top...
It's always nice making it to the top! Even something as simple as this, less than 1k feet gained but earning 360 degrees. From here you can see all of San Diego in the distance, the Zoo, the Ocean and Downtown. These are not close up views, so perhaps bring your binoculars, but it is just amazing. Many of times I have visited San Diego, always near the water, always on the flat sea level. Today I gained a new perspective, and behind me there looks to be many more hiking opportunities. Guess I'll be going HikeStalking real soon!
