Sassafras Mountain - Foothills Trail

Highest Peak in South Carolina
My Tripometer: 30 Minutes * 1 Mile * +75 Feet

Beware: Wild Turkeys Crossing the Road

Directions:
From Greenville, South Carolina head Northwest.  Find your way to Route 178 and follow that North towards North Carolina.  Turn off to the right up Sassafras Mountain Road.  You will cross into North Carolina without knowing it for about 30 seconds and then back into SC.  Keep going up until you reach the end...

 Empty Parking lot

 This trail leads down...

Follow the road to the top.  It took me about a minute (jogging)

I reached the Highest Peak in South Carolina!!!

This is a day after I reached the highest peak in Georgia

 Many Hiking Trail Options

There weren't any amazing views up here...

I hiked back down to the Overlook by the parking lot

It was a beautiful morning!

A more legit way to reach the top would have been to hike up the Foothills Trail.  We didn't have time for that and as it was, my wife in kids remained in the car while I did this exploring.  I mean, it was quite cold and windy outside but come'on!  The peak is very easy to achieve but they were scared of possible wild animals, like turkeys!!!
