Day 749: South Beach - Lummus Park - South Pointe - Miami Beach Boardwalk - Adrienne Arsht Center

Welcome to South Beach!

Day #749 * Hike #931 * New Track #737
Tuesday December 4, 2012
South Beach - Miami Beach
South Pointe - Lummus Park
My Tripometer: 1.5 Hours * 1.5 Miles * +0 Feet

Park the car and begin your walk...

Careful, these two drinks set me back $48.00!!!

Let's get back to the hike; outdoor activities

Ayden walks on his hands to the beach

I guess we were at 12th Street

We originally drove in to hike at South Pointe but between the construction and the blah atmosphere over there, I'm happy we landed here.  I think we found a great spot to adventure around...

 Just ask this guy...

Water is tropically colorful and warm...

 Mission Control, Prepare for Takeoff...

 Homelessness sleeping in the park...

Day #749 * Hike #932* New Track #738
Tuesday December 4, 2012
Miami Beach Boardwalk - Miami Beach, Florida
My Tripometer: 1.5 Hours * 1.25 Miles * +0 Feet

After checking into our overpriced & cramped hotel room in South Beach, we drove north up Collins to explore other parts of this city...

According to Jess, some players from the Miami Heat live here

We found a boardwalk...

 This goes on forever

Ya know, next time I come across a guy like this I think I'm going to sit down and talk to them.  Just look at him; I bet he has stories to tell and I'm sure many of them are quite interesting...

Onward with the hike; ooh, somebody has a nice sail boat...

 We found an oasis...

 Plentiful...

Other than Jess breaking the strap of her shoe, this walk was pretty nice.  Away from all the crazies in South Beach, this part of Miami Beach is pretty chill.  That said, I would never live in Florida.  It's way too flat!!!  I think I would get some sort of Flat Sickness.  A Man needs his Mountains and there is no doubt that Cali is this place to live.  Florida is just a vacation destination...

Adrienne Arsht Center - Miami, Florida
My Tripometer: 3 Hours * 1.25 Miles * +0 Feet

After dinner, we drove into the actual City of Miami, off the Island of Miami Beach.  We had plans to watch a show, thus we parked and took a tour of this part of town by foot...

Arriving at the Adrienne Arsht Center

 We bought box seats

We were way early for the show...

With kids, watching a show like this from the balcony is the way to go

 Miami at night

 Stomp

 Where are we?

After the show we roamed around for a bit but not much is actually around in this district.  We then ventured back to South Beach and walked around our hotel for the first time.  There were some busy clubs and a gelato place where we indulged.  It was a long day and although I attempted to persuade the wife and kids to extend this into a hike, Jess said no and I can't blame her.  The peoples around were crazy and the club scene is not meant for kids.  We walked back to the hotel and called it a night, no hike :(...

This was our hotel.  At first we were disappointed but then after scoping out the town and sleeping soundly on the nice plush beds, this stay was actually quite nice.  It reminded me of a glorified hostel so take the experience in luxury...
