Cleveland, Utah

Welcome to Cleveland - Utah!

In my pursuit to visit all the Clevelands across this USA, here's another one to take off the bucket list!

Detour!!!

Tickle me Cleveland!

The "C" makes it official!

I wonder if Drew Carey had anything to do with this?

#ClevelandRocks It was July 10th, 2017.  Cleveland was our 8am morning break on our third day of this RV trip to Colorado.  Sure, it was a bit off course, but not too bad.  It was only about 30 minutes north of I-70, so we looped the scenic route - Isn't that what RVing is all about anyway!!!

Cleveland Dinosaur Quarry

So, the Dinosaur Quarry would be the big deal out here because it is actually the largest dinosaur find in the world.  However, to get there you must travel many miles down a dirt road.  It's said to be doable for most cars, given dry weather, but was our 30-foot RV, not gonna take the chance.  There is also a well maintained, or so they say, bike trail.  This was intended to be our route to the quarry, but with Ayden breaking his arm exactly 7 days earlier, bike riding was out!

Huntington State Park

Huntington State Park was about 10 minutes or so from Cleveland, Utah.  I would have never discovered this place if I wasn't looking for Cleveland.  After the long drive from Ventura, California, with only a few naps/pit-stops along the way, this lake destination represented our first camping hook-up of the trip.

The water in Huntington Lake is always warm, fed by a warm-hot spring.  Kayaking the lake was the thing to do, a difficult task given Ayden had one arm and the rentals were only one-manned kayaks.

Hooking up the RV

Rain Bands coming down across the lake!

Hooking up the Kayaks!

There was no lightning, at the time, so we figured to head out on the water.  I tied Ayden's kayak up to mine because he only had one usable arm.  Let me tell you, it was not easy.  Especially when the storm came nearer, which picked up the wave current of the lake!

To us Californian's seeing rain is pretty awesome!

What's for dinner?

We escaped to the RV just in time before the storm came overhead.  I made a healthy dish, which included asparagus.  Just some of the tricks that I learned from my recent #FitToFatToFit Experience.
