DAY 103: YMCA THOUSAND OAKS

DAY 103: YMCA THOUSAND OAKS
Date: Friday February 25, 2011
Miles: 1.25
Elevation Gain: 150 Feet
Time: 45 Minutes
Difficulty: Battling the rain!
Reward: If you call being soaking wet a reward!
Description: There is a nice little trail up here
Where: Thousand Oaks, CA
Directions:From the 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks, take the 23 Freeway north and exit on Sunset Hills.  Go left (West) to the end and turn left on Olsen.  Turn right on Moorpark and look for the YMCA about a half mile up on the left.  Go up the drive and keep going up the road to the very top.  Park your car by the dirt where you can play a game of horseshoes.

Explore the area.  You are up on a hill and it begins to go lower, but I didn't see a clear way to the bottom.  I've been told that there is a trails by CLU, which will lead to Wildwood.  I'll try that one on a different day.

  2. Not too much going on up here. Very easy hike and would be nice under the sun for a 20-minute timeout from the concrete jungle. The entire loop is less than a half mile so to build up distance, you'll need to hike it twice or do what I did, explore the off route areas :)
