Nevada's Sesquicentennial Time Capsule |
--Let's all meet here in 2064 to see what's inside! I'll be 90 years old. // When I was a kid, me and my sister and best friend Josh would bury Time Capsules in my backyard. We probably found other locations too, I just can't remember. I used to have treasure maps to these worthless yet priceless artifacts but, those are long gone. Yay - back in the day...

After a brief visit to the Capitol, we jumped on the Highway over to Reno. We parked at the Barbara Bennett Park and began our journey...

The Biggest Little City in the World |
Well, it's no Vegas, but it will have to do. It was neat that they had a riverwalk and the outside temperature was pleasant. We focused our efforts on this general location but there were some other bigger hotels and casinos around the city. For sure though, this was the main spot.
After walking around the water, we traveled through their main strip. We stopped in at the Circus Circus which offered the Midway Games like they do in Vegas. We watched this China Man perform some crazy tricks. After the show, we bumped into him outside smoking a cigarette. He didn't speak much English...
One time in Vegas we saw a group performing tricks. We then bumped into that same group a few years later where they were performing at the Thousand Oaks Theater. Heck, it probably happened on one of my 1000 Hikes, if I recall correctly. Somewhere lost on this blog would tell that story.
Perhaps one day we'll see this guy on America's Got Talent. I would suggest he quits smoking first though, not that he fears death based on how he uses his head...
So, today was an interesting one. I woke up in the middle of nowhere at over 8k feet and went on a little journey alone. I then walked alone at Mono Lake. Later, with the family, we worked out in Antelope Valley where the Walker River Runs Through It. Finally, made it to South Lake Tahoe and then on our way out, hiked around Spooner Lake. Stopped by the State Capitol and then to Reno. All in all, over 20k steps in one day! This was the most steps registered since wearing the I-Health Watch and a month later, still stands at the top of my list:
Back on the road, stop by to get some gas at Hallelujah Junction. I think we slept somewhere around here, but drove maybe an hour further...
...Next stop, Bumpass
