South Lake Tahoe - Spooner Lake - Tahoe Rim Trail
Lake Tahoe |
The Water be Cold! |
Quack! |
No -that wasn't us; but I have (in Hawaii) |
Such a touristy town! Split in half by Cali and Nevada, the Casino side gave way to Restaurants. It was pretty neat but not exactly what I was expecting. With the Ski lifts in the distance, this was surly a winter wonderland, in the cold winter that is.
We danced around the water for a bit but did not partake in any water sports. We ate some lunch and then rolled on out. It was my first visit to this lake. Rumor has it that the north end may be more up my wilderness alley..

- This is a 3.58 mi route in Indian Hills, NV, United States. The route has a total ascent of 225.73 ft and has a maximum elevation of 7,199.61 ft.
Heading out of Tahoe along Hwy 50, we passed a turn off and felt the need for a hike. We learned here about the Tahoe Rim Trail which travels North to South to the East of Lake Tahoe. We intersected this trail at a fortunate point, to loop around Spooner Lake. Lucky find - a much more doable loop compared to the ginormous liquid to the left...
Perhaps next time... |
This was an enjoyable easy walk. Although, near the end, it did feel longer than it should have, like - are we going around this lake twice somehow? Little Donnie was not too happy about the 200 foot climb at the end - wah!
The day is still young - off to Carson City and Reno!!!
