My sister'n'law and her many babies live in Peoria, IL. We visited in August 2015, and man was it hot! Growing up in Cleveland and then converting to the dry California air, I forgot how that humidity overwhelms you. I guess it's one thing, just slightly uncomfortable, living there and being acclimated to it daily. However, to step back in, oh boy, let me tell you, -- just hard to breath and survive. To make matters worse, the Peoria pool had already closed for the summer - in August, really??? Fortunately, nearby Bloomington, just a half hour drive, offered a refresh at their waterpark. Slides and afternoon of chilling out. We revisited here twice for our week out.
We then drove up to Normal, which is a college town for one of the Universities. Not sure where all my pictures are, not much in the way to discuss hiking, but still an adventure destination. Soak it up!
