Welcome to Cleveland ... Georgia!

Lake Lanier Islands Park - Buford Dam - Atlanta, GA

My Tripometer: 20 Minutes * 1 Mile * +25 Feet

Before we entered Cleveland, we came here...

Location: We took the Lanier Islands Parkway exit off I-985 and followed it west to the end...

We didn't actually reach the park because there was a guard at the gate charging an entrace fee.    Lake Lanier is huge and I'm sure there are better spots than this.  This area is on the southern end of the lake, just north of Buford Dam.

The Guard said to not cross the bridge unless we paid to do so...

I found a trail on the free side but this was not worthy...

 Driving North to Cleveland!

 Town History

We walked around this small town for a bit.  Cleveland is directly in route to the highest peak of Georgia if you are driving up from Atlanta.  Of course, I knew this ahead of time but I couldn't resist walking around the public square with my family.  The traffic square was actually quite busy.  Neat little town...

Back on the road searching for the highest peak...

 We thought about stopping here...

And Yes, we bought some rocks here!

The Town of Helen, Georgia

This place was a small version of Chagrin Falls, Ohio.  Ironic that we were driving out of Cleveland to reach this spot...

Next stop, the Highest Peak in Georgia...
