Day 751: Sawgrass Lake Park - Sawgrass, Maple & Hammock Boardwalk Trails

Dude, what kind of Spider is that?!

Day #751 * Hike #937* New Track #743
Thursday December 6, 2012 -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!
Sawgrass Lake Park - St. Petersburg, Florida
Sawgrass, Maple & Hammock Boardwalk Trails
My Tripometer: 1 Hour * 2 Miles * +0 Feet

Hidden between the freeway and the neighborhoods of St. Pete lies this amazing wilderness...

 Well hello there!

More than a mile of boardwalk hiking!

We started down the Sawgrass Trail

 We didn't see any Alligators

 From the two-story Overlook Tower

The Sawgrass Trail has a loop so we covered the entire portion.  We mixed running into this hike.  Ayden and I took the lead.  We raced back past the entrance and then all the way down the Maple and Hammock Trail.

 Dead end!

We spoke to a local about this and he informed that someone intentionally set this portion of the boardwalk on fire about a month prior.  Horrible!!!  Why?  Really?  Stupid!!!

Beyond the boardwalk trails there are actual dirt trails as well.  We did not continue down them because the day was young and we had an agenda; more hiking and a cruise???
