Poinsette Bridge Heritage Preserve - Travelers Rest, SC
Old Indian Scout Reservation
Spartanburg County - More Peaches than Georgia!
My Tripometer: 30 Minutes * 1 Mile * +25 Feet
Randomly Identified this sign off Highway 11
Name: Poinsett Bridge Heritage Preserve
Location: County Road 42, Travelers Rest, South Carolina
Website & History: https://www.dnr.sc.gov/mlands/managedland?p_id=39
We took the kids out of school to do this trip and part of Alyssa's homework assignment was to write a report about unique bridges. Driving down Route 11 I saw the sign for the bridge and made the turn down Callahan Mountain Road. You'll pass the Old Indian Scout Reservation and a few minutes later, if I recall correctly, you'll make another turn. The bridge will be below on the right and there is a parking area on the left...
We hiked a little ways into the forest...
But turned back to explore beneath the bridge

Abbott Farms
South Carolina is a Peach?
I know you may be thinking that Georgia is the Peach State. However, on one of our random stops we visited this Abbott Farms location in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The guy inside explains that this county alone produces more peaches than the entire state of Georgia. Although peaches were not in season when we visited, we did enjoy some peach cider and pie. It was a nice little snack before taking to the road again...
